While some assignments are temporary, most are ongoing. Most projects pay per record collected, with researchers averaging between $7-15 per hour, and occasionally more. Knowledge of public records or courthouses is a benefit. All training and software are provided for your specific assignment. You must be dependable. A laptop is preferred, but not required, and you must have reliable internet access.
